Eric P. Verner has been appointed to serve as assistant principal at Canton High School.

The Canton Board of Education and Superintendent Kevin D. Case made the announcement Monday night that Verner, currently at Bolton High School, will replace Sashi Govin, who is leaving to become principal at Dag Middle School in Wallingford.

He has both the personal and professional qualities the school community was looking for in their next assistant principal. He will be a great addition to our District's Leadership Team and along with principal (Andrew) Dipippo, will take Canton High School to the next level of excellence."

Verner has been serving as Humanities Curriculum Coordinator and Social Studies Teacher at Bolton High School since August of 2002. He has served as co-chair of the professional development committee, coordinator of the senior capstone project and has served as acting principal.

Verner holds a sixth year degree in educational leadership from Central Connecticut State University and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Massachusetts State University and a Bachelor's Degree in History and Secondary Education From Providence College in Rhode Island.
