Andrew F. DiPippo Picked to Lead Canton High School

Glastonbury assistant principal will replace retiring Gary Gula.

Thursday night, the Board of Education unanimously selected Andrew F. DiPippo as the next principal at Canton High School. 

DiPippo, who is currently an assistant principal at Glastonbury High School, was selected from a nationwide search that yielded 27 candidates, Canton Superintendent Kevin Case said. 

The appointment is effective July 1, 2013. 

In a prepared release, Case described DiPippo as “an excellent communicator with a passion for working with teachers and students who will work to support the achievement of all students, making him the right choice for Canton High School.  He has both the personal and professional qualities the school community was looking for in their next Principal.  He will be a great addition to our District’s Leadership Team and will take Canton High School to the next level of excellence.”

Thursday evening DiPippo thanked the board as well as several teachers, interview committee members and others who attended the meeting. He said he was increasingly impressed with Canton at every step of the process. 

"The more I learned about Canton, the more I wanted to be here as a destination not just the next step in a career," he said. 

DiPippo has been served as Assistant Principal of Glastonbury High School in Glastonbury since July 2008. Prior to his arrival in Glastonbury, he was the Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator at Windsor Locks Public Schools. Mr. DiPippo has proven himself as an outstanding leader. 

DiPippo holds both his Masters Degree and Sixth Year degree in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University, and Bachelor’s Degree in History and Teacher Preparation from Providence College in Rhode Island.  

DiPippo will begin as Principal of Canton High School on July 1, 2013.
