About Fay

Your Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.

Politics
How would you describe your political beliefs?  I believe in the candidate and not the party by which they are affiliated. A wise person once told me to look to a person's past performance as an indication of how they will perform today. Good advice, I think.
Are you registered with a certain party? No, but you would think it by all the phone calls I receive during election time.

Religion
How religious would you consider yourself? (casual, observant, devout, non religious) Very casual. I was brought up Protestant. Our church, the United Methodist Church of West Chelmsford, Massachusetts, is a very active and social church. I will admit that I enjoyed the social aspects of our church (picnics, rummage sale, holiday fair) more than the actual religious ones (sermons, Sunday school).  I do have a great admiration for the many people who volunteer their time and give to their church.

Local Hot-Button Issues

What do you think are the most important issues facing the community?  The school and town budgets, taxes, and environmental issues such as septic.
Where do you stand on each of these issues?  I live next door to Clinton in the town of Killingworth thus am unaffected by the Clinton budget. I do feel that Clinton residents, on the most part, really care about their community and recognize the need to solve septic issues, and want to work together to support a fair town and school budget.

Hi Fay...thanks for providing all this great information. Question - the CL-P now reports back up to 98% without power in Clinton. It was 77% this morning. A glitch on their site? Or did someone pull the plug again :(.

I heard that there were some water main breaks but CT Water is not answering their phone. Are any of the problems in Clinton? If so, what roads? Brian Dewhirst
