In addition to lending books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and other materials, Canton Public Library offers online…More resources, downloadable e-books, story times and many education and professional programs. It also serves as a gallery, showing the works of many local artists.
In addition, display cases highlight the work of numerous local organizations. The roots of the library date back to the 1830s when organizations, churches and businesses in Collinsville and North Canton established library associations. In 1913, the Canton Public Library Association launched an effort to establish a town-wide public library. In 1920, the Collins Memorial Library at the corner of Main and Center streets, was dedicated. The building served the town's library needs until 2000, when the present day library and community center was opened at a former elementary school on Dyer Avenue.
