The Roaring Brook Nature Center was founded in 1948 by Una Storrs Riddle. The wonderful woodsy grounds provide a…More great spot to take a hike, learn about Connecticut wildlife or sit quietly and watch a flurry of birds busily eating from one of the many feeders.

But if you want to totally experience the center, you must step inside and check out the exhibits. Here you will see a replica of a real Indian Longhouse, a beaver wetland and other seasonal exhibits reflecting the climate, history and wildlife of Connecticut. Don't miss the small animal room, which houses snakes, frogs and other native animals.

There are several programs available for school groups, scout troops, home schoolers and vacations. Summer camp here is quite popular and so are the nature-inspired birthday parties. The gift shop is a great place to shop for the nature lovers on your list, both young and old.
