Canton Intermediate School serves nearly 400 students in fourth through sixth grades. CMT test data for 2010 showed a aMore 90 percent or greater proficiency in math, reading and writing from every grade level at the school. Academic life also includes initiatives such as nature's classroom, where students learn about the environment and responsive classroom, which provides students with the chance to socially interact with classmates and teachers at the beginning of the day. Students also learn to give back and help the less fortunate through initiatives such as the Kids Care Club. In 2010, CIS received an Exemplary School Climate Award from the Connecticut Association of Schools.

Valley Ballet has been a fixture in the Farmington Valley since 1980. Located in The Canton Commons Plaza since 2003,More the facility is bright and airy and comprised of two large studios and changing rooms. Under the direction of Gayle Micca, the school offers classes for children and adults. Students may choose from a variety of dance disciplines including ballet, modern, lyrical and even urban street dance. Performances are scheduled for students six years old and older. Younger students are able to perform in the classroom setting.

Founded in 1942, Cherry Brook Primary School initially served kids in certain sections of town. Since then, it hasMore undergone numerous renovations and is now the town's only kindergarten to third grade school, with more than 500 pupils. Cherry Brook is also home to a town-run preschool, whose students are chosen by lottery. The elementary school looks to combine traditional and contemporary education, placing a special emphasis on reading and technology in 2010. Critical thinking, adaption of classroom lessons to everyday situations and community service are also emphasized.
