Betty, You miss the point. It has nothing to do with the population or area of the towns. Instead,Read More it has to do with: - removing sign regulations so that tall, obstrutive and glaring signs can be seen up and down rt. 44. Now, particularly in Avon and simsbury, you see trees along rt. 44, not large signs. - The berlin turnpike has no sense of place - few trees, no consistent designs, and its not walkable. Today, rt 44 has trees, some sidewalks (avon is putting in more) and many of the new buildings fit Canton nicely (the new CVS, the new D&D, the new Taco Bell). Without at least some "fiery hoops" rt 44 would lose these attributes. - The Berlin Turnpike has been the object of unrestrcited growth and, as you said, large shopping plazas. Some fiery hoops are needed to keep Canton's section of rt 44 small buildings consistent with current character.

Wyatt, Torrington is a city with a population of 36,167 with a total area of 40.4 square miles.Read More Canton is a town with a population of 10,335 with a total area of 24.6 square miles. The Berlin Tpke is a 4 to 6 lane highway with very deep, and large parcels on either side. I do not see how Canton's Route 44 could be made wide enough to be confused with the Berlin Turnpike.

These "fiery hoops" which are being derided are the only things keeping Canton fromRead More turning into Torrington or the Berlin Turnpike.

Seems to me the deadbeat owners names and addresses should be published. A lot of the money owed isRead More from sales taxes these businesses collected. There is no reason for this to occur.

Are the principals of these entities locked up? Would seem to me that with all theRead More "enforcement" abilities of the government that this list shouldn't exist. For shame...

It is great to see the Canton Education Foundation growing. The Farmington Education Foundation hasRead More been well established and with the help of a large business community has done a great deal to help the Farmington schools. Many thanks to the Shoppes at Farmington Valley for their generosity, they and their tenants give back to the community in so many, many ways.
The Hub Bar and Grille's Pizza was dubbed best in the Valley by Patch readers. The Hub may be closed but the pizza is available at Canton Indoor Golf Center. Pictured are center owner Chris Maher and Johns.

This may explain why The Hub Bar and Grill closed its doors collecting State sales tax from yourRead More customers and not turning it over to the state will do that real quick. I have attached the quote and link from the drs website. "December 10th agents arrested Cynthia P Johns, age 51 of Avon, for ten counts failure to pay sales tax in the amount of $28,000.00 for Hub Bar & Grill LLC in Canton, She was later released on a $10,000.00 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at the Hartford Superior court on December 27, 2012. http://www.ct.gov/drs/cwp/view.asp?a=3807&q=458212
