The Focus Alternative Learning Center serves the needs of children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders in a warm and homey environment. The program operates year-round and may be used to replace or supplement the child's education. The center focuses on a technique called "Milieu Therapy," which is a planned treatment with a high staff-to-student ratio. In addition to running programs for students, the staff also addresses the needs of their families through support groups and 24-hour phone support. Social clubs for boys and girls provide an environment where students can build trust, learn safe behaviors and develop self-awareness. There is a summer program that runs for six weeks and uses ordinary living situations as a tool for learning. Focus is also proud of its mentoring program, which allows students to grow by sharing their skills with others.
