Roadmap to College - admissions planning class

Canton Parks and Recreation is offering "Roadmap to College" to help students and parents master the best practices of the college application process. The seminar includes details for finding the right college fit, taking tests, creating an effective activity resume, requesting recommendations, writing strong essays, planning visits, understanding how admissions decisions are made, and working as a team with school counselors.

Juniors learn how to engage in the college search process now, using school holidays and early dismissal days to get started. Parents gain an understanding of the student’s responsibilities, the application timeline and today’s college landscape. Families of younger students learn how to plan ahead. Farmington Valley families are welcome to attend.

The seminar will be held January 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Canton Community Center. The fee is $50 per family. To register, go to www.cantonrec.org
or call Canton Parks & Recreation at 860-693-5808.
