Another Exciting Night of Canton Little League Action

Marlins, Mets game to resume Tuesday evening.

It was another exciting night of Canton Little League baseball Monday as the Mets and Marlins faced off in the Championship Tournament for the AAA division.

At one point the Marlins pulled ahead with a six-run inning but the Mets rallied to tie up the score. At the end of six, it remain 6-6 but since it was after 10 p.m., the game will resume Tuesday evening at 5 p.m.

The Marlins have a 2-0 playoff record so if they win the continued game, the championship is theirs. However, the tournament is double elimination and the Mets have a 2-1 post-season record. So should the Mets win the continued game, the teams will, time and weather permitting, immediately play another game to determine the division championship.

The league does not have permission to use lights tonight, so if the second game is necessary but there is no winner by dark (at least four innings of play necessary), it would have to be rescheduled, league officials said.

The Mets finished the regular season 10-2 and the Marlins 6-5-1. In all, the teams are 2-2 against each other.
