CHS Boys Soccer nets impressive 5-0 win
Canton beats Coventry in traditional homecoming game under the lights.
Senior striker Jimmy Spatcher continued his torrid pace by scoring 4 goals and leading the Canton High School boys soccer team to a 5-0 win over visiting Coventry on Saturday night.
Canton got on the board first in front of a large homecoming crowd. Spatcher scored a one-timer of a beautiful crossing pass from Ben Corbett. A few minutes later, Spatcher scored again with a lighting strike from mid-field which gave Canton a 2-0 halftime lead. Canton controlled play throughout the second half. Alex Daley's brilliant playmaking led to two more Spatcher goals. Daley had three assists and completed the scoring with a hustle goal of his own. Keeper Tyler Lange notched his third shutout of the year but was hardly challenged in this match. Nate Gallagher, Evan Church, and Keith Loureiro led a smothering Canton defense which held Coventry to only 3 shots on goal.
Canton improves to 5-5 and travels to East Windsor on Tuesday afternoon. Canton's next home game is this Friday, 10/19, at 3:45pm against archrival Avon.
