Canton High School's graduation will likely be Friday, June 21, Superintendent Kevin Case said Tuesday night.
While the Board of Education does not set the date until April, Case told members Tuesday night that a fifth snow day Monday pushed back the graduation date one week since the current last day of school falls on a Thursday — June 20.
One more emergency closing would push the last day of school to June 21 as well. Under current policy, further closings would result in taking away from the April vacation, beginning with Monday, April 15, Case said.
The board had some discussion about that issue, with some members stating that parents would push back if it came down to losing some of that vacation.
Other members, however, said it's an issue the board has discussed at length and with limited options. Vice chairwoman Beth Kandrysawtz said it's also an action the board has not had to take.
