Preliminary Work Begins on Canton High Track, Field and Parking Lot Project

Representatives from South-Windsor based Folsom Construction, LLC were on the grounds of Canton High Tuesday morning, performing preliminary work for the track, field and parking lot improvement project at the school.

Last fall, voters OK'd the $3.6 million project by a tally of 3,034 to 2,112.

It will include a multi-sport synthetic field and track as well as changes to the parking lot and the addition of a boulevard entrance to the school.

Last week, the town signed a $3.2 million contract with Folsom as general contractor for the project, said Jeff Shea, project administrator for the town of Canton.

Over the next couple of days, the company will do some preliminary work with activity picking up shortly after, Shea said.

"By the latter part of this week, they'll be going full bore," he said.

The expected completion date for the parking lot improvements is late August and the track in late September, Shea said.
