Michael LeDuc Wins Outstanding Student Achievement Award at Connecticut College

Sophomore lauded for excellence in botany

NEW LONDON (05/15/2012)(readMedia) — Michael LeDuc, a sophomore at Connecticut College, was awarded the Betty Flaners Thomson Prize, which is given for excellence in botany offered by the botany department in honor of Betty F. Thomson, Professor Emeritus of Botany. LeDuc was presented with the award at the annual Honors & Awards ceremony at Connecticut College on May 1.

LeDuc, a 2010 graduate of Canton High School, is the son of Jeffrey and Theresa LeDuc of Canton.

At the ceremony, the awards were presented by President Leo I. Higdon, Jr. and Armando I. Bengochea, dean of the college. Jennifer A. Fredricks, associate professor and chair of human development faculty director, Holleran Center for Community Action and Public Policy, gave the keynote address.
