Internationally Renowned Paul Winter Duo to Perform 'A Concert Celebrating Canton’ Saturday, Dec. 1

On Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, 7:30 p.m., at Canton High School, Canton Parents for Music and the Canton Public Schools Music Department will be hosting a benefit concert featuring the Paul Winter Duo comprised of Paul Winter and Jeff Holmes to support the Canton Public Schools music program.

Paul Winter is best known for his annual Winter Solstice concerts. Winter is the father of what has become known as Earth Music and has spent the last 40 years interweaving the recorded sounds from the natural world with musical instruments. Holmes is an accomplished pianist, composer, arranger and trumpeter and a multiple recipient of National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Composition Grants.

There will be a special recognition of former music teachers Larry and the late Jean Hall. The Hall’s devoted decades of their lives educating the children of Canton and were the driving force in establishing the town’s highly-recognized music program.  The “Concert Celebrating Canton” will also be premiering the auditorium’s newly restored Knabe Grand Piano. In addition, Canton will be celebrating the second year of Canton being named a national “Best Community for Music Education”.

Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the door.
