Two Job Search Programs at Canton Public Library

Although the economy show signs of recovery, many unemployed and underemployed workers are still looking for work.  On Saturday, May 12, Canton Public Library holds the second and third of three job search programs with Marcia LaReau of Forward Motion.  “Internet Job Search Strategies” will be held from 10:30 AM to noon, and “Networking Notworking?” will be held from 12:30 PM-2:00 PM.  Patrons may sign up for one or both of the presentations.

In “Internet Job Search Strategies,” Dr. LaReau will demonstrate how to find opportunities through a specific online process.  She will walk participants through each step of finding employment opportunities and will present the two key principles of online searching.  “Participants will leave fully prepared to conduct an efficient and effective job search,” according to LaReau.

In “Networking Notworking?” Dr. LaReau will discuss today’s networking challenges, including the reality that many job-seekers find themselves networking exclusively with other job-seekers.  Participants will learn how to use online social media tools to identify potential networking opportunities; to approach individuals and set up a networking appointment; to set an agenda and manage the meeting; and to maintain connectivity.
