“Tech Topics for Seniors: Getting the Most from Your Library Website” at Canton Public Library

If you’re a senior who is determined not to be left behind by the technology advances of the last decade or so, you’re in luck.  Canton Public Library has  launched  a monthly series of workshops titled “Tech Topics for Seniors.”  The series, which began in September, continues with “Tech Topics for Seniors: Getting the Most from Your Library Website” on Wednesday, March 21 at 1:00 PM.

At this sixth session of “Tech Topics for Seniors,” Canton Public Library’s Head of Tech Services, Sarah McCusker, will demonstrate some of the wonderful features that are available to anyone with a Canton Public Library card.

The library’s website enables a patron to find out whether we own a book, or, if we don’t, whether a nearby library does.  With their library card number and PIN, patrons can place a hold on books owned by Canton or by other libraries in our consortium.  Patrons can also renew books.  Sarah will also highlight the wealth of electronic resources available to Canton Library patrons, including ancestry.com (for use in the library), Overdrive downloadable media, A to Z World Travel, and Mango Languages, to name just a few.  And for those with a home internet connection, all of these features are available 24/7 rather than just during library hours.

Following a lecture/demonstration, seniors will have a chance to try their hand at using the resources available through the library website using the new mobile computer lab.  The lab was purchased and set up using a technology grant from The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, and space is limited for this free demonstration.
