Book Talk by Caroline Zinsser, "Vine Utley, The Remarkable Country Doctor of Lyme, CT (1768-1836)"

Researcher and author Caroline Zinsser has reconstructed the fascinating story of a heretofore unrecognized early Connecticut physician based on his unpublished manuscripts.  Case histories meticulously recorded from 1798 to 1834 vividly describe the period’s medical practices including bloodletting and the strong use of purgatives.
