Contractor: Weather Permitting, Crews Are on Track to Meet Canton High School Lot, Field Project Deadlines

Folsom Construction, LLC and project subcontractors are making a big push to meet the Aug. 22 parking lot construction deadline at Canton High School, said William J. Cunningham, project manager and estimator for the company.

"It's all hands on deck," Cunningham said Monday. "We're really doing everything we can to meet that deadline, weather permitting."

The revamping of the parking lot is part of the larger $3.6 million school track, multi-use field and lot project voters approved by a vote of 3,034 to 2,112 in November of 2012.

Monday, town project administrator Jeff Shea said the project is within budget so far.

"We're within budget," he said. "It's tightening up as we go but it's still manageable."

To help meet the August deadline, the town has now authorized work to be done on Sundays, which Folsom, based out of South Windsor, took advantage of this week. In addition the company has some five crews on site and subcontractors also doing work at the same time.

The Sunday labor does not affect the town financially, Shea said.

The other deadline for the field and track work in Sept. 21. Cunningham is also optimistic about meeting both dates, weather permitting.
