CIS Welcomes Kevin J. Hanlon

New principal started Thursday.

Parents, teachers and school officials held a reception for new Principal Kevin J. Hanlon after his first day on the job Thursday.

"It's good just to meet him," said Debbie Poleyestewa who came to the reception in the school's cafeteria with her sixth-graders Julia and Anna and fourth-grader Nathan.

Hanlon said his experiences Thursday and visits last week only reiterated his feelings that the town is passionate about education, committed to its students and welcoming.

"I couldn't be more proud and pleased to be a part of it," he said.

Superintendent Kevin Case said it was great to start a new chapter.

"We're just thankful to have Mr. Hanlon on board," he said.

Hanlon replaces Dr. Jordan Grossman, who is now the district's assistant superintendent. For the past month since Lynn McMullin left to head the Orange K to 6 school district, Grossman has split his time between Canton Intermediate School and his new duties.

"It's nice to have all the people in place now to move forward for the second half of the year," Case said.

Hanlon was most recently principal at Hebron Elementary School.
