Cherry Brook Welcomes 139 New Students

10 new staff members also start at school

Submitted release

Cherry Brook Primary School, Canton, Connecticut, successfully began the school year with eager young faces and enthusiastic teachers.  Many new students are attending Cherry Brook for the very first time.  They also have welcomed to their staff 10 new staff members ranging from classroom teachers to support staff.

Cherry Brook Primary School has welcomed 139 new students; 113 of the students are from kindergarten and the other 26 new students are in grades 1, 2 and 3.  The students have come from other schools all around the country and throughout the world.  In order to make all our students feel more comfortable with the start of the new school year, the school held two Meet and Greet events which enabled the students to meet their new teachers as well as mingle with the other students in their class.  Kindergarten students also got the opportunity to ride a school bus.  For many, this was a first time experience.   After the Meet and Greet the PTO held a gathering on the playground, which included ice pops for cooling off on a very warm day.

Bella Doyle, kindergarten student, commented “I love kindergarten because there are different centers.  I like the drawing center best”.   If Bella’s comment is any indication, it looks like the kindergartners are off to a great start!
