Cherry Brook Primary School Honors Veterans

Some 35 relatives of students, staff visit classrooms, gather for school-wide tribute.

Approximately 35 veterans visited classrooms at Cherry Brook Primary School before the entire school gathered for a Veterans Day ceremony Monday.

Nearly all those who visited are related to students or staff members at the school. In typical Cherry Brook fashion, each was introduced with family members and greeted with huge cheers as they walked into the gymnasium. On the way to their seats the veterans who were able also gave high fives to students.

During the ceremony, veterans were treated to some songs as well as tributes from students.

Each school in Canton paid tribute to veterans over the past three school days. Cherry Brook principal Andy Robbin said his students may be the youngest but added that it is important to begin getting them thinking about the sacrifices.

"We're really appreciative of you being here today to help teach the young what you accomplished," Robbin said.
