Cherry Brook Holds 50th Annual Children's Fair

More than 100 Volunteers Help Make for a Memorable Day.

The Cherry Brook Primary School community celebrated a very special Children's Fair Saturday, thanks to the hard work and community support of more than 100 volunteers. Families enjoyed food, games and the music of Cherry Brook Principal Andy Robbin with his band, The Substitutes.

"Each year the Children's Fair is a special event,” Robbin said. "It's fantastic to see the children and their families interacting, playing games and celebrating together."

Nicole Clark, Krista Richardson and Amy Orschel orchestrated the event, which they had been planning for about four months. They added some activities to the old favorites and moved the fair to the main field. New this year were a hula-hoop contest, toilet paper toss and a Dunk Booth, where children had the chance to dunk some of the popular school staff. The Cake Walk also returned this year, handing out over 50 cakes throughout the day. Volunteers working the grill served up hamburgers and hot dogs to be enjoyed inside or out.

Families relaxed under the canopy and danced out on the black top as The Substitutes played several well known tunes and kids enjoyed climbing up into Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department's Engine 4 and the Town of Canton's bucket loader.

"This year has even more special ties as it is our 50th anniversary. It's amazing to reflect on how many families and people are connected to the Children's Fair and Cherry Brook Primary School.  We are so fortunate to be a part of this community," Robbin said.
