Canton Superintendent: Plan is to Have School Tuesday

Two-hour delay announced Tuesday morning.

Tuesday 5:57 a.m.

There will be a 2-hour delay this morning due to icy road conditions, Superintendent of Schools Kevin Case said

Original story

As of Monday evening, Canton Superintendent of Schools Kevin Case said school should be back in session Tuesday.

Case said a delay was possible, depending on road conditions Tuesday morning. However, that would be a decision made in the morning.

"People should stay tuned and will be getting a call in the morning if there is a delay," Case said.

If there is no call it means schools are starting on time.

School was canceled Monday, largely due to road conditions after the blizzard. Monday Public Works Director Robert Martin said much progress had been made in that area and crews were able to widen travel lanes on the town's streets. Part of the department's time Monday was also spent clearing snow from sidewalks at the schools.

This week, Public Works will also work on improving sight-lines and will remove snow in downtown Collinsville Wednesday morning.

I know they were working on sidewalks today but I am in a meeting and offhand am not sure how far they got.

so the parents are supposed to walk their kids down the middle of the road to the bus stops? this is absurd Kevin Case needs to be concerned with the safety of the kids and not jest getting schools back in session

Hi Sue, You are right. Many of the sidewalks near the school are not yet cleared.

Ohh please its all about you isn't it. I think safety is trying to clear the roads so you can get your kids to school.. Or you can pick up a shovel and help them clear the sidewalks!!

Just a note. I was told the sidewalks on Simonds near the high school were cleared this morning before school started.
