Case: Plan is to Play Friday Night Football Game At New Facility

As of Tuesday evening, the school district planned to move forward with a plan to host a Friday night football game on the new track and field facility, superintendent Kevin Case said.

The confirmation came after a walkthrough of the facility and late Tuesday evening the Canton High football team was practicing on the new field.

As expected in any project there is a "punchlist" of items that will be addressed in the next few days but the field is ready, Superintendent Kevin Case told the Board of Education Tuesday evening.

"It’s very exciting that the project is coming to a close,” Case said. “It’s great to see the vision come to fruition.”

Wednesday morning, Chief Administrative Officer Robert Skinner said the town Town Engineering Consultants deemed the project substantial completed.

"The town has now taken over responsibility for the track and field subject to warranties and a “punch list” of items that need to be completed, repaired or produced," Skinner said.

As of Tuesday night, school officials said public use details were still being worked out.

Plans are for the football team to take on Lewis Mills Friday, Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the field.

Last fall voters approved a $3.6 million project for a new parking lot and the new multi-use field and track facility.
