Canton Phoebe Humphrey Chapter Announces DAR Good Citizens Award

On Nov. 14, the Canton Phoebe Humphrey Chapter of the DAR honored Anna Grant, a senior at Avon High, and Emily Coleman, a senior at Canton High, with the Good Citizens Award. 

Joan Finney, Regent, and Susan Jurras, GCA Chairman, presented the awards.  

The girls were also presented proclamations from Canton First Selectman, Richard Barlow and state of Connecticut proclamations from state Rep. Timothy LeGeyt and state Sen. Kevin Witkos. Christopher Tranberg, principal Avon High, Drew DiPippo, principle Canton High and Kevin Case, Superintendent of Canton, all spoke with regards to the girls successes, achievements and volunteerism, and how it led them to winning the Good Citizens Award.

Anna will be going off to college to pursue her love of the classics. She hopes to become a professor of Classics or a secondary school teacher of Latin.

Emily will be following in the footsteps of a couple of her family members and is excited to be going to college to become a chiropractor.
