Seventh-graders at Canton Middle School put their survival skills to the test Friday and practiced orienteering, first aid, building shelters purifying water and more.
Middle School reading consultant Kris Cimini said the purpose of the sessions was to apply skills the students have been learning as part of their English curriculum.
"This is an opportunity for the students to test their skills and apply what they've learned," she said.
