In today’s multi-faceted world, ways to keep a family safe and healthy can sometimes be overwhelming.
With that in mind, will host a free Wellness Fair for the entire community Thursday.
The event will feature tips on exercise, nutrition advice, backpack safety tips, internet precautions, fitness programs, youth sports initiatives, fun activities for the kids and more.

“We decided it would be a great community event that is kind of fun and informational,” said Jackie Crowley, RN and school nurse at Canton Intermediate.
The event will be a first for the school and was coordinated by the health and wellness committee at Canton Intermediate.

“We have been planning this event for quite a while and are thrilled with the variety of resources that have been brought together for families in our community,” said Teresa Dotson, a Registered Dietitian, wellness committee member and fair participant. “As an RD, I will be providing tips on healthy snacks and family meal planning. We’ll have fun nutrition tests and prizes for the winners. March is National Nutrition Month , so this is the perfect time for a fun, interactive outreach program.”

- Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Injury Prevention Center and FIT Program
- Canton Police Department-Bike Safety & Internet Safety
- Canton Fire Department
- Canton Parks and Recreation Department
- Canton Youth Sports Leagues
- Canton Community of Concern
- Backpack Awareness Safety
- CIS Ropes Course
- Dance, Dance Revolution
- Proper bike helmet fit advice (bring your helmets for a personal fit)
- Core strengthening exercises
The fair will take place Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Canton Intermediate School, 39 Dyer Ave., Canton.
