Canton High Students to Host Get Real in the Real World

Summit designed to inspire young women.

A group of four young women from Canton High School are organizing a program designed to benefit local high school aged females. The program, “Get Real for the Real World — A Young Women’s Summit” now in its second year is funded through a grant and mentoring program.

Free to all attendees, the summit will be held on Tuesday, April 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at , 41 Bridge St. in Collinsville. The program will offer attendees an interactive experience, including a guest speaker, several workshops, demonstrations, and fashion show; all with the purpose of inspiring young women to be and achieve their best.

Sponsored by The Shoppes at Farmington Valley and Bridge Street Live, along with other local businesses, the event will help to and encourage young women to portray themselves in a positive way – through issues such as healthy nutrition, positive body image, skills for interviewing for college and jobs, etc.

About Get Real for the Real World

Get Real for the Real World is a program developed in conjunction with the Canton Education Foundation, students from Canton High School, and The Shoppes at Farmington Valley to encourage members of our community to develop a more healthy lifestyle. The students, working with The Shoppes’ General Manager, Denise Robidoux, and Marketing Coordinator, Brandi Killoran, designed the program, brochures, signage and logo to help promote healthier lifestyles.
