Canton High School Celebrates Veterans

Program includes historical perspective, visits from veterans.

On Nov. 10, Canton High School celebrated Veterans' Day with a special program.

The day began in the auditorium where Nora Mocarski, social studies chair, provided a historical perspective on Veterans Day and seniors Gus Gumbs and Adrianne Kunkel, members of the Civil Air Cadets, provided their perspective on the significance of the day.

The days also featured a video produced by students in Mr. Jeff DuBois' class and Staff Sgt. Marco Rivera-Gonzalez re-enlisted for another three years.

After the assembly, two veterans in each classroom spoke with students about their experiences. Veterans from WWII,
Korean War, Vietnam War, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were
represented.

"I have been involved in programs for over 20 years and this program, by far, was the most organized and meaningful," one veteran said.
