After April Break, Breakfast Available at Canton Intermediate School

Cost is $1, program may expand to Cherry Brook next year.

Following the April break, breakfast will be available to students at Canton Intermediate School.

The cost will be $1 for breakfast and will be served from 7:30 to 8 a.m., food service director Joe Stango of Whitsons Culinary Group said. The breakfast is free for those on the reduced and free lunch plan.

CIS principal Kevin J. Hanlon said the timing will give all students a chance to participate and provide busy and struggling families another option to ensure students "start the day with a healthy meal."

School officials said the breakfast is a pilot program to offer breakfast at the elementary level. The intermediate school is set up well to start the program and work out the logistics, Hanlon said. Next year it will likely be offered at Cherry Brook Primary School.

"We're giving it a go with the expectation to expand the program if all goes well," Hanlon said.
