A New Tree in Memory of Casey LeGeyt

Canton Intermediate School hosts ceremony.

On Friday Canton Intermediate School planted a red maple tree in memory of Casey LeGeyt, who lost her battle with leukemia in August of 2005. She was just 13.

The school planted a tree in memory of Casey shortly after she passed away but it was damaged in the snowstorm last October. While school officials are hopeful it may fully recover, a group of students decided to plant a new one in honor of Casey.

On Friday, the entire school gathered for a ceremony that included her parents, Phil and Jeannine LeGeyt, uncle Tim as well as other family, friends and former teachers.
