Wanted: Canton's Top Dog

If Canton's most popular dog were a topic of a town-wide machine vote, it might draw more participation than an annual budget or even a controversial project.

But while the town is seeking to crown its next top dog, there's no need for politicking. Simply renew your dog's license by June 28 and he or she is entered into a drawing for tag #1 and a goodie basket.

The town has run the promotion since 2010.

"It brings awareness of dog licensing," said town clerk Linda Smith. "Hopefully people will tell their friends and neighbors."

  • $8 Spayed Female or Neutered Male Dog (Certificate of Proof must be provided)
  • $19 Un-spayed Female or Un-neutered Male Dog
  • $1 Late Fee, per month beginning July 1
