Social and Senior Services Thanks Volunteers

Cherry Brook Health Care provides lunch for event.

The town thanked its Senior and Social Services volunteers with a special luncheon Tuesday.

Senior and Social Services Coordinator Claire Cote thanked those who perform tasks such as providing transportation to dialysis patients, cooking for seniors, organizing the food bank and much more. She said the services, currently under the Parks and Recreation Department, and volunteerism have really expanded in recent years.

"The evolution of this department throughout the past couple of years, taking on Social Services, expanding our network and being able to pull resources from throughout the town and the Farmington Valley shows just how incredible we can be with the support of others," Cote said.

The volunteers go above and beyond for their community, Stevenson said.

"We appreciate that," she said.
