Construction Begins on Canton High School Track, Field and Parking Lot Project

While some preliminary work was done last week, the town of Canton sent notice that construction activities on the high school track, field and parking lot formally began Tuesday. Here is the message from the town:

Construction activities will begin on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 for the construction of Athletic Facilities, Parking Lot, and Entranceway Improvements at Canton High School. These construction activities will include tree clearing, excavation, grading, retaining wall construction, installation of storm drainage facilities, construction of the running track, synthetic turf field, and reconstruction of the parking lot.

The project will be completed in two phases so as to minimize the impact to school activities until the end of the school year on June 21. After the end of the school year on June 21, the contractor will initiate the reconstruction of the parking lot and entranceway. Vehicular access to the school will be provided during the summer months for BOE staff and some limited school activities.

The reconstruction of the parking lot and entranceway is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 22, 2013. Construction of the track and field components of the project will continue until Sept. 21, 2013.

We ask for your patience during construction of the project. Any questions on the project should be directed to Jeff Shea, Project Administrator at 860-693-7855.
