National Weather Service Predicts Temperatures into upper 90s

The Canton Community Center will be open today and Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. as a cooling center, fire marshal Adam Libros said.

Residents who need to are encouraged to come take advantage of the air conditioned spaces, he said.

He also reminds residents to stay well hydrated.

Libros added, "do not stay outside for any long period of time, try to keep any strenuous outdoor activites to the early morning when it is cooler and check on the elderly and young."

The National Weather Service is predicting temperatures in the mid 90s today, with a heat value index of up to 101. Friday is likely to be hot and humid with temperatures in the upper 90s, according to the service.

Saturday the temperature is predicted into the 90s again, with the heat breaking by Sunday, when highs in the mid 80s are forecast.
