Most Businesses Open During Storm

Police Chief Urges Caution on the Roadways

Most businesses are open and activity moderate as of noon Saturday. Shops in Collinsville, on Route 44, Canton Village and the Shoppes at Farmington Valley were nearly all open. Business pace was slow to moderate around noon. Many roads, especially Route 44, still contained a fair amount of slush.

The National Weather Service is predicting a total of 3 to 5 inches of snow today, mainly before 4 p.m.

Despite relatively low amounts, police chief Christopher Arciero urged caution. While Canton had just two minor accidents from Thursday night's dusting, he cited area accidents and said people should remember even small amounts can create slick roadways.

"We are reminding people to take extra caution," Arciero said.

From a safety standpoint a Saturday snowstorm helps, with no rush hour or school to worry about, Arciero said.
