Photo of the Day: Securing a Public Hearing for Track and Field Project

Feb. 28, 2013.

A sign required for a March 6 Zoning Commission public hearing on the proposed track, field and parking lot improvement project is chained to a sign at Canton High School.

The town recently postponed the planned Feb. 20 hearing after a resident pointed out the sign was not clearly visible. After determining the sign had been at least partially plowed under a snow bank, officials consulted the town attorney, who advised delaying the hearing.

Zoning commission approval is still needed for the proposed $3.6 million track, artificial turf field and parking lot improvement plan. In November, voters approved the expenditure. The zoning hearing has been rescheduled for March 6 at the Library/Community Center (40 Dyer Ave.) at 6 p.m.
