A town employee injured in a motorcycle crash earlier this month has a long road to recovery but is now conscious, town officials said this week.
Chief Administrative Officer Robert Skinner said Perry Polderman, injured in a motorcycle crash on Sept. 3 in Torrington, is now conscious but still has a lot ahead of him.
"He’s got serious injures," he told the Board of Selectmen Wednesday night.
Polderman is also owner of American Shooters on Route 44. A sign on the business states that it will be closed indefinitely. It also says anyone with guns on consignment will be contacted.
Friday morning Tom Richardson, president of the R1-198 chapter of the National Association of Government Employees, confirmed that the union is planning to support the family. Details will be forthcoming.
