Public to Look at Farmington River Plan

Residents urged to attend Thursday night meeting on draft plan for 'Upper Mill Pond.'

The town will host a meeting on a preliminary master plan for the Farmington River in Collinsville on Thursday night.

After several months of research, sediment testing and public input, Milone and MacBroom Inc. of Cheshire, working with the Upper Collinsville Mill Pond Master Steering Committee, has released a draft masterplan for the area of the river from Town Bridge to the dam at Route 179.

The plan includes recommendations for the town to pursue in the future, including fishing areas, artificial habitat, traffic calming measures, public boating and swimming access and additional trail opportunities. It also addresses the possibility of increased depth through limited dredging or the use of flashboards.
