A Canton Public Works Department employee and local businessman involved in a motorcycle crash earlier this week remained in serious condition Wednesday, according to a Hartford Hospital spokeswoman.

Polderman works at the town's transfer station and also owns on Route 44.

He was listed in serious condition that evening and Wednesday a spokeswoman at Hartford Hospital said he remained so. Thursday morning the condition was the same. The exact nature of the injuries has not been made public. A serious condition indicates a acutely ill patient and includes possibilities such as unstable vital signs, according to the hospital web site.

Several in town said Polderman is in their thoughts and prayers.
