Canton Republicans Nominate Candidates for November Elections

A long-time Republican leader for the Board of Education will be on this fall's ballot but this time around Beth Kandrysawtz is seeking a seat on the Board of Finance.

The party hopes she will fill a vacancy by Republican Richard Ohanesian, who is not seeking re-election.

"Beth had indicated she was comfortable moving over to the Board of Finance," said RTC chairman Brian D. First, who also thank Ohanesian for his years of service. "Her knowledge of the school budget is really going to be helpful for us if she's elected."

Kandrysawtz is currently vice chairman of the BOE and had served several years as chair.

This week, the RTC also backed several other candidates, including First, who is seeking re-election on the finance board.

For Board of Education, the committee endorsed current chair Leslee Hill as well as Dana Kosior and Julie Ausere. Kosior is currently on the board, having filled a vacancy as an unaffiliated candidate. She, however, recently affiliated as a Republican.

Ausere has been active with PTO organizations, including as president for the CIS PTO.

"She's ready to make a greater contribution," First said.

Republicans picked Arnold Goldman to run for board of assessment appeals and
Karen Berry, Dan Barnhart, Julius Fialkiewicz and Larry Minichiello as constables.

"Everyone that was nominated was identified as a good candidate," First said.
