Why are you running for office?

As a resident of Canton for over 45 years and having served during this time on numerous Boards, Committees and Commissions in Canton, I believe that I have acquired a good understanding of both Canton’s needs and the desires of its Townspeople, and now as a retiree I find I would have the time to offer my services to the Town as a canton elected official.

What skills do you have that you could bring to the community?

The leadership skills that enable me to be able to reach consensus among various differing views.  A recognition of my skills in this regard has been evidenced by the fact that I have been elected Chairman on most of the Boards, Committees and Commissions on which I have served by the other members of these Boards, Committees and Commissions.

If elected, what would be your primary areas of focus?

Ensuring that Canton is properly prepared to address the anticipated shortfalls in the Town’s future Federal and State revenue streams, and ensuring that there is more transparency in the Board’s deliberations.

Name something the town has done well over the past four years.

Has been able to avoid large increases in the mill rate.

What is something the town could have done better during the past four years?

Has failed to take the necessary steps to prepare itself to address the anticipated need for future expenditures in certain areas, e.g., road maintenance, etc.
