A Unionville man was charged with Driving Under the Influence after his car crashed into a motorcycle rider on Dowd Ave. Sunday afternoon.
Lynn Hatinen, 70, of 259 New Britain Ave., was charged with driving under the influence and failure to grant right away, police said.
Shortly after 2 p.m. two motorcycle riders were traveling south on Dowd Avenue when Hatinen pulled out of the Canton Village Plaza to head north, striking the first rider, police said.
The rider was transported to an area hospital but his injuries were not life threatening, police said.
Hatinen was reached at his home Monday morning but he declined comment. Police said he is due in court Oct. 4.
A second motorcyclist was injured in Canton Sunday in front of the Subway plaza. At approximately 3:40 p.m. the operator of a car was traveling west bound on Route 44 and turned left into the plaza, colliding with the eastbound motorcyclist, police said.
That motorcycle rider was also transported to an area hospital but police said the injuries were not life threatening. No charges have been filed in that accident and both are under investigation, police said.
