Shortly after 2 p.m. two motorcycle riders were traveling south on Dowd Avenue when Hatinen pulled out of the Canton Village Plaza to head north, striking the first rider, police said.

The rider was transported to an area hospital but his injuries were not life threatening, police said.

Hatinen was reached at his home Monday morning but he declined comment. Police said he is due in court Oct. 4.

Ugh. Scares me as a bicyclist. My aunt and uncle where killed by a drunk driver in front of the Silo in 1991. They had just left my house to visit my mom who would die four days later from cancer. I'm sharing this because drunk driver is avoidable. I have a picture of the three of them side by side on the living room couch that night. They were there to say goodbye to my mom. Little did we know that as we saw them out the door, we were saying our last goodbyes to them.
