Simsbury Man Charged With Burglary in Canton

Canton Police have charged a 24-year-old Simsbury man for his alleged involvement with a North Mountain Road burglary earlier this month.

Dylan LaPenna, 24, of 148 Wolcott Woods, Simsbury has been charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree larceny. In an unrelated matter, he was also charged with failure to respond to a failure to pay or plead violation. Bonds were set at $150,000 and $150 respectively.

It was during the day on Dec. 2 when a North Mountain Road resident came home to a strange car in the driveway, police said earlier this month. A while male then exited the yard and left in the vehicle, Canton police said. There were no injuries.

Canton Police said a resident was able to help them them identify the vehicle and officers subsequently identified the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for LaPenna.

Area departments have actively searched for the suspect who was detained by the Winchester police Department and turned over to Canton on Saturday, police said.

LaPenna will be held for a Monday, Dec. 16 court appearance, police said.

The case remains under investigation and is still considered active, police said.

A number listed for LaPenna’s home was out of service.
