Submitted release

The Canton Police Department recently received a donation of three bullet-proof vests from two local businesses. The Shoppes at Farmington Valley donated two vests and Monarch Jewelers donated one. Each vest costs $572.

The donations came at a particularly relevant time as the department was in the process of re-supplying its officers with new vests, according to a press release.

The Canton Police Department extends its thanks and praise to Denise Robidoux of the Shoppes at Farmington Valley and Jesse DeFilippi of Monarch Jewelers for their generosity and interest in ensuring the safety of Canton Police Officers.

The vests need to be periodically replaced and fitted to each officer, Police Chief Christopher Arciero said.
