Police: Two Stole Copper Wire From Downed Lines

Suspects due in Community Court Nov. 9.

Two Torrington men were charged with stealing copper from downed lines Monday, police chief Christopher Arciero said.

Officers caught the two in the Washburn Road area near the Simsbury town line, he said.

Police recovered copper from a car the two were using, Arciero said. He was not immediately sure if the copper came from power or telephone lines.
