Police Make Arrest in Burglaries

Charges against second suspect pending.

Canton police have arrested a Windsor man in connection with three burglaries in town.

Ian Grimly, 26, of Windsor, was charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of larceny and one count of robbery for three burglaries in November, police said. The incidents occurred on Case Street, Woodchuck Hill and East Hill Road.

The robbery charge stems from the Case Street break-in of Nov. 10, which involved a brief altercation with the homeowner, who came home during the incident.

In that break-in, the suspect removed a screen and came through an unlocked window. The other incidents were similar, police said.

Canton Police Department Chief Christopher Arciero said department Det. Kevin Wilkinson, working with detective units from Suffield, Enfield, Coventry, Windsor and the State Police, was able to identify two suspects.

"Follow-up investigation resulted in the two suspects providing confessions to the three Canton burglaries," according to police press release.

"Some of the items taken from the burglaries by the suspects have been recovered from various pawn shops or jewelry exchange centers," the release stated.

There are three outstanding arrest warrants for the second suspect but he has yet to be served, police said.
