Police Investigating One-Car Crash in Collinsville

Farmington woman's injuries 'appear to be minor.'

Canton police are investigating a one-car accident in Collinsville Monday evening.

Shortly after 7 p.m., Hope Sheridan, 67, of Farmington, crashed her Hyundai into a retaining wall at the corner of Bridge and Center Streets in Collinsville.

She was injured and transported to St. Francis Hospital but police believe she will be OK.

"It appears to be minor in nature," said Police Capt. Lawrence Terra.

St. Francis does not give out the status of its patients.

The scene itself was somewhat dramatic, according to those who witnessed it.

Members of the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department removed the patient from the car and cleaned up engine oil and antifreeze that had spilled on the roadway after the engine cracked, fire officials said.

Police said the accident remains under investigation.
