Avon police arrested an Avon resident on child pornography charges Friday.
Kevin Brownell, 65, of 28 Lakeview Blvd., Avon, was charged with possession of child pornography at 7 a.m. on Jan. 17.
Connecticut State Police informed Avon police about "several cyber tips" from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
The organization reported to State Police that one of Brownell's email accounts was "possibly in possession of child pornography. Detectives discovered over 3,000 images of child pornography in his possession after executing a search and seizure warrant of his home and "electronic media."
Police took him to Hartford Superior Court on Friday and a judge set his non-surety bond at $85,000.
